A Thai classic
The easiest Thai entrée for beginners.
Cookware & Appliances Needed
- Stovetop or Hot plate
- 13 inch Wok
- Utensil to cook
- Deep colander
- Glass measuring cup
- Water kettle
Ingredients
- Ground Turkey – 3 lbs
- Thai basil – 164 grams
- Thai chili powder – 1 TSP
- Garlic (minced) – 1/2 TBSP
- Onion powder – 1/2 TBSP
- Black pepper – 1/4 TBSP
- Fish sauce – 1 1/4 TSP
- Soy sauce – 2 TBSP
- Sesame oil – 1 TBSP
- Oyster sauce – 3 TBSP
- Palm sugar – 1 cube
- Water, heated – 2/3 cups
- Olive Oil – 2 TBSP
Instructions
- Begin by: Dissolving palm sugar with hot water in a glass measuring cup.
- Once dissolved, add your oyster sauce, soy sauce, fish sauce, sesame oil, onion powder, and black pepper. Give a good mix.
- In a wok over medium-high heat add olive oil.
- Once heated, add garlic and Thai chili powder.
- After aromatics are released, add your ground turkey.
- When ground turkey is slightly cooked, pour in half of your seasoning mixture. If you want to drain the moisture/ grease, do so before adding the rest of your seasoning mixture.
- Once ground turkey is cooked and the entire seasoning mixture has been added, turn off heat.
- Then add your Thai basil and toss until evenly distributed.
- Best served with rice and topped with a fried egg sprinkled in paprika, black pepper, and sea salt.
